France Outlines Open Data Strategy

The French government agency Etalab, responsible for open government data, has published an overview of priorities and activities for the French government concerning open government data in 2013. The overview reiterates France's commitment to transparency and open data.

The actions are grouped in 7 areas:

  1. Working to open up strategic data sets
  2. Facilitate and improve the process of opening up public data in ministries, public institutions and local authorities
  3. Supporting innovative reuse and the community of innovators
  4. Transparency and data in the service of public service modernization
  5. Evaluation of existing charging practices
  6. Changes in the administrative and legal framework
  7. International action, including orientation on a possible OGP membership
