London will host a conference later this January that aims to start a consultation process with the volunteers collaborating with Free UK Genealogy (previously named FreeBMD).

Free UK Genealogy

Free UK Genealogy is a charity that supports the transcription of public records, and the process of making these available as free access public databases.

FreeBMD (which aims to transcribe the Civil Registration index of births, marriages and deaths for England and Wales), FreeREG (Parish Registers) and FreeCEN (Census data) are all projects supported by Free UK Genealogy.

During this conference, topics such as the benefits and value of opening up data (or family history) and Linked Data will be debated.

More information about the event, including details of how to register for free, can be found by clicking here.
