Swiss Open Data Conference
In the Swiss city Zurich the Swiss open government data community is meeting today for the Swiss national open data conference.
With international input from Austria, Germany, UK, and ePSIplatform, as well as local experts, and four thematic tracks with workshops (on mobility, health and environment, finance, science and culture), a good and varied programme has been realized.
It is the second time that this conference is taking place. The speakers in the morning sessions, sharing experiences on how to start open data projects in their respective countries, stressed two important messages: focus on creating things, and focus on addressing actual issues and problems with data (instead of finding a problem to a solution)
Precisely that has been the credo of the Swiss open data community, who have been actively organizing thematic hackdays under the label Make.OpenData.CH. In 4 hackdays 300 people participated in creating more than 30 projects re-using open government data that is currently available.
