Pricing and Licensing - Crucial factors for the re-use of Public Sector Information

Experts at the ePSIplus Thematic Meeting on Public Sector Information (PSI) pricing within the context of the European Union Directive 2003/98/EC, that took place in Athens on the 20 & 21 November 2008, heard that PSI Pricing and Licensing remain the key unresolved issues with respect to the re-use of public sector information.
Dr. Gaby Boele-Keimer of MICUS Management Consulting GmbH presented with the permission of the European Commission some of the findings from the European Commission commissioned study on PSI undertaken by MICUS during the summer of 2008. The study focussed on three thematic areas:
- Geographic Information
- Meteorological Information
- Legal and Administrative Information
The study showed that in all three sectors the top impediments to the re-use of public sector information include the financial charges and the licensing conditions.
