UK Companies House achieves Information Fair Trader Scheme accreditation
London: 16 September 2009
The UK Office of Public Sector Information (OPSI) published a report announcing that Companies House has been accredited under the Information Fair Trader Scheme (IFTS).
The OPSI Report titled: Information Fair Trader Scheme Report Companies House (March 2009) states (page 5):
“19. The principles identified by the Assessment are:
- Information easily available - where possible at low or marginal cost; Clear and transparent pricing structures for the information, with different parts of the business accounted for separately;
- Simple and transparent licences to facilitate the re-use of information for purposes other than that for which it was originally created; and
- Clearly and independently defined – with input from customers and stakeholders – core purposes (“public tasks”) of the organisations. OPSI will provide enhanced oversight and governance to ensure application of these principles across Companies House and other Trading Funds that create significant amounts of information.
20. Based on the team’s assessment, Companies House has been accredited to IFTS and should be re-verified in 2-3 years.”
Companies House has been assessed against the revised Information Fair Trader Scheme principles that came into effect on 1 April 2009 together with a new Performance Management Framework. The revised IFTS principles are:
- Maximisation
- Simplicity
- Transparency
- Fairness
- Challenge
- Innovation
The new Performance Management Framework documents how OPSI ensures compliance with Government re-use policies and the Companies House IFTS report on page 6 shows how Companies House stands with respect to the new Performance Management Framework.
