The University of the French Community of Belgium a member of the University Academy 'Leuven', FUNDP Computer Research and Law (CRID) initiative has published the March 2010 newsletter.
The March newsletter announces the involvement of CRID within a new European Union funded thematic network titled: Legal Aspects of Public Sector Information (LAPSI) and state:
“The LAPSI (Legal Aspects of Public Sector Information ) project, a thematic network, will start: it is realised in collaboration with the NEXA CENTER of the Politecnico di Torino (Turin- Italy) and 19 other universities and institions from around 13 European countries. It will last 30 months (from March/April 2010 to July 2012). LAPSI project intends to build a network apt to become the main European point of reference for high-level policy discussions and strategic action on all legal issues related to the access and the re-use of the PSI on the ongoing review of the PSI Directive (Directive 2003/98/EC). It intends to propose a platform for bringing together the different analytical threads of the legal debate on a number of topics that can be put under the umbrella of public sector information (PSI) and for discussing policies and strategies in the area. The aim is to identify and discuss legal barriers to access and re-use of PSI (as IPR's issues, privacy, competition law, etc) in the digital environment and suggest ways to overcome them. The CRID Units involved in the project are "Liberties in the Information Society" and "Intellectual Property" and the researchers, Cristina DOS SANTOS, Caroline COLIN, Cécile DE TERWANGNE, Maria IGLESIAS, Séverine DUSOLLIER.”
