PSI: Identification of potential Exclusive Agreements – Belgium: Report published

Luxembourg: 5 March 2010

The European Commission has announced the publication of a report on potential existence of Exclusive Arrangement pertaining to Public Sector Information in Belgium.

The announcement states:

“The study has been finalized in Belgium. It has yielded 9 leads to potential EAs that are to be further investigated. The most prominent leads have been found in the domains of meteorological information, business information and, to a lesser extent, legal information. Furthermore, the majority of the alleged potential EAs have been located outside the federal circles of the Belgian government.

The research covered over 150 Belgian Public Sector Bodies and their directorates and agencies – holders of the most important PSI – and over 100 Re-users within the most valuable PSI Domains (Business information, Geographic information, Legal information, Meteorological information, Social statistical information and Transport information).”

The Executive Summary of the report titled: Country report assessment on exclusive PSI re-use arrangements in Belgium states:

“The most prominent leads are found in the PSI Domains of meteorological information, business information and, to a lesser extent, legal information. Furthermore, the majority of the alleged potential EAs are located outside the federal circles of the Belgian government.”
