European Digital Library Initiative High Level Expert Group publishes draft report on PPP
Brussels: 14 January 2008
European Digital Library Initiative High Level Expert Group – Sub-group on Public Private Partnerships has published a draft Report on Public Private Partnerships. The European Commission in the announcement states:
“This interim report represents a first piece of advice on how best to promote and to make use of public-private cooperation and private sponsorship for the digitisation of Europe's cultural heritage. The subgroup is currently still working, and it is expected to present a final document by spring 2008.”
Section 11 (page 15) of the 23 page report considers the Re-use of Digital Copies and refers to the PSI Directive 2003/98/EC and Exclusive arrangements. The sub-group recommends that cultural institutions should aim to abide by the Directive.
