The true potential of PSI!

Does your organisation understand the true potential of the public sector information you hold?
London: 1 August 2008
DODS have announced a conference titled: Unlocking the Potential of Public Sector Information that will take place on the 14 October 2008 in central London. The announcement states:
“This conference will provide a forum for policy makers, public content providers, re-users and industry leaders and experts to come together to discuss how public bodies can realise and unlock the potential of public sector information.”
The benefits of attending the conference are stated as:
- Hear Information Minister, Michael Wills MP, set out the Government’s agenda on public sector information
- Examine the barriers that can impede effective re-use of PSI
- Consider the role and work of the Power of Information Taskforce and how their next steps affect you
- Understand where innovation and new developments might take your organisation’s use of PSI
- Discuss the critical issues facing PSI practitioners with our expert panel of speakers
- Network with your peers and counterparts across Government and the wider public sector
The conference has been jointly organised with the UK Office of Public Sector Information (OPSI)
It is interesting to note that the attendance fees are structured to favour the public and the voluntary sector. Considering that most potential re-users are individuals, micro or small companies a level attendance fee would have been preferable! Perhaps this is a filter mechanism to attract the public sector employees!
