Licensing and data.gov.uk - we are listening
London: 2 February 2010
The UK Office of Public Sector Information (OPSI) has published on the PerSpectIves blog an announcement titled: Licensing and data.gov.uk - we are listening.
The announcement states:
“Following last week’s launch of data.gov.uk we have made some changes to the licence terms and conditions on the site in response to some of the feedback we’ve received.
We’ve made the changes to make it clear:
- which information is covered by the data.gov.uk terms and conditions
- that the data can be re-used both commercially and non-commercially
- that the Crown has no intention of claiming ownership of ideas and applications that users submit to the site.”
This may seem quite unexciting, But is a big deal!
On the 26th January 2010 the Binary Law published an article titled: Crown Commons that recognises the significance of the UK Government licensing related to the data published under data.gov.uk. The article ends with the statement:
“This may seem quite unexciting, but is a big deal!”
